D-Plane

The "D" Plane or in more easy to understand terminology, what causes a ball to go where it goes, which may not be where you think it should go. Also, what can you do about it and are there any changes you may want to make to your thinking about the way you swing the clubhead at the ball. Come in for a Fitting and we will discuss your "D Plane."

Dennis Carroll, a FS Golf customer from Chevy Chase, MD, called the other day to let me know that he had just shot a Hole-in-One on the 12th hole at Iron Valley Golf Club in Cornwall, PA. As soon as I receive the photo of Dennis and his hole-in-one certificated, I'll post it on the web site. The 12th hole is 138 yds. for which he used his new Infiniti HS Hot 7 iron. The Course map at Iron Valley states that the 12th green is tricky to read and best to stay short of the    pin - how about in instead. If you can't read greens, just do as Dennis did and bypass the putting requirement. Congradulations Dennis.

Like Walking - 2012 PGA Merchandise  Show in Orlando

Just returned from the annual PGA Merchandise show in Orlando, FL. Below are some pictures of this years Golf Happening. The show floor is over 1/4 mile long and laced with Vendors of all types from the latest Club Models to Models in flashy clothing. The show starts with Demo Day at Orange County National GC. Demo Day is held at a Practice facility that is one mile in circumference and over 500 yards across from tee to tee. Approximately
10, 000 people attend demo day hitting over one hundred thousand golf balls. Every major company is represented, as are numerous support equipment suppliers. Below is a picture of one of my support equipment suppliers, Flight Scope, the best Launch Monitor made today in my opinion.

The photo below was taken from one of four overpass ramps covering the Display floor. In addition, there are dozens of border rooms on several floors that have expanded displays of Golf equipment and serve as lecture rooms, organization meetings etc.  The Display Floor inside the Convention Center may look at first glance  like a crowded, disorganized mess. On the contrary, you can find a Vendor very easily but the walk may take awhile. If you visited every Vendor from end to end you will have walked approximately 10 miles. Wear some good walking shoes if you attend. If after Demo Day, you still haven't tested all the clubs known to man, have no fear because at one end of the floor is a Driving range housing another 40 tee positions. Swing Away.

Aerotech Steel Fiber Shaft -
Wins Again at the Farmers Insurance  Classic

Brent Snedecker, playing Aerotech Steel Fiber shafts won the Farmers Insurance Classic in dramatic fashon. Aerotech has been steadily gaining acceptance as the shaft to play on all three US Tours. What is even more impressive is that the Pro's playing these shaft are not compensated for using the Aerotech Shaft. FS Golf is a Dealer for Aerotech Shafts. On your next visit ask about Aerotech.

 World Golf Hall of Fame

Just visited the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine, FL. If you have not been there you should make an effort to visit. I went to the previou. This site at Pinehurst and this facility is so much better. There is a great deal of history, individual exhibits, trophies & awards of the best in the game and several documentaries on the world of golf. Below is a picture of the early club making tools and the assembly facility. More than likely around the late 1800's.

You can also test your putting skills on the putting green that is 13 on the stimp meter. Just touch it and it rolls 20 feet. After that go outside and try you luck on the Sawgrass replica island green. My luck ran out and landed short in the water. Oh well!

Theresa and I had our picture take on the replica of the Swilken Bridge (St. Andrews, Old Course). Having had the opportunity to play St. Andrews and walk around the facility back in 1972, this was a real treat to replay an event.
